Paducah Power System seeks applications for a Generation Technician with emphasis in Instrumentation and Controls. This individual will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a 124 MW simple cycle gas turbine power plant in Paducah, Kentucky; the plant was commissioned in 2010 and has maintained a 99% availability factor. The ideal candidate should possess a working knowledge of operating and maintaining combustion turbines and their auxiliary systems with four years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education. Education should include electrical engineering technology or the equivalent. Strong DCS and I/C skills required; PPS is willing to train the selected candidate the necessary Operator Training for power generation if applicable. The Instrument Controls Technician should have a strong electrical background with preferred experience testing, troubleshooting, and calibrating plant instrumentation meters along with their associated transmitters to the distributed control system and balance of plant; experienced with PLC’s and logic; VFD’s; DC Battery Systems; Networking; Electrical Schematic drawing interpretation; Inspection and Repair of vales and pumps, and CEMS to name a few. Experience with Mitsubishi Aero (formerly Pratt Whitney) gas turbines and Woodward Controls is preferred but not required. In addition, the employee should have good communication and computer skills, this position will communicate directly with vendors, grid dispatchers, and OEM representatives. The Generation Technician must be a self-starter, willing to accept responsibility, and be capable of working on his/her own initiative; this position plays an important role in maintaining plant availability and reliable service to the organization. Non-standard working hours and overtime are required as needed. Employee will also participate in paid on-call rotation. Paducah Power System seeks applications for a GIS Specialist. This position’s primary responsibilities include maintaining GIS, ESRI, staking, and mapping systems of PPS. Applicants must display excellent customer service and computing skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks with interruptions. Qualifications include an Associate in Science involving ESRI training or two years of work experience with mapping systems. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
