Public Hearing Scheduled for September 11, 2023 for Consideration of Two New PURPA Standards

Paducah Power System must hold a public hearing regarding two new proposed standards of the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 (PURPA). Each nonregulated utility must consider and make a determination whether it’s appropriate to implement the new standards regarding Demand-Response Practices and Electric Vehicle Charging Programs. 

On August 14, 2023, the Electric Plant Board of the City of Paducah (the “Board”) established a hearing date of September 11, 2023, for consideration of PURPA Section 111(d) standards (20) and (21) regarding demand response practices and electric vehicle charging programs (collectively, “PURPA Standards”), respectively.  The Board hereby invites comments and related materials on the PURPA Standards from interested parties.  Comments and materials may be submitted to 1500 Broadway, Paducah, KY, 42001.  Such written comments are due no later than September 4, 2023, and should include the submitting party’s name, address, phone number, and e-mail address. 

The Board shall hold a public hearing on September 11, 2023, at 12:00 pm, at Paducah Power System headquarters located at 1500 Broadway, for the purposes of considering the PURPA Standards, staff recommendations, and comments from interested participants.  Such consideration shall include an opportunity for interested participants to provide oral comments on the PURPA Standards, previously submitted comments, and staff recommendations with respect to the PURPA Standards.  All materials related to the Board’s consideration of the PURPA Standards, including the PURPA Standards, this notice of hearing, and any related staff recommendation are contained in this link and available at the offices of Paducah Power System.
